Connecticut health officials have found West Nile virus in mosquitoes in three towns.
The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station announced this week the virus has been found in Guilford, New Haven, and Stamford mosquitoes.
The CAES tests mosquitoes on a rotating basis.
Officials said nine insects were found in Guilford near Moose Hill Road, 57 at Beaver Pond Park in New Haven, and 50 at Cove Island Park in Stamford.
Last week, officials announced that infected mosquitoes were found in Waterford.
West Nile is transmitted to humans by infected mosquitoes. Flu-like symptoms can occur. Less than 1 percent of people infected can develop serious neurological illnesses such as encephalitis or meningitis.
