It may not be a white Christmas after all, as forecasters say a wet, windy storm could bring flooding and power outages across Connecticut later this week, dampening the holiday at its peak.
Meteorologist Garett Argianas said that a storm beginning Thursday night could bring damaging winds with it, along with flooding caused by heavy rain and melting snow.
“Secure or take down outdoor decorations,” Argianas said. “Plan for potential power outages.”
Energy provider Eversource says it is getting ready in the event of storm damage. Company spokesman Mitch Gross said storm prep is underway at 12 work centers.
“We’re moving additional materials into all of these locations to be sure the crews have what they need nearby, ready to go if there are problems,” Gross said.
He also said natural gas heating systems could be impacted by the storm.
Out-of-state crews are standing by to help, Gross said.
