The Coast Guard got its moment on the silver screen recently, with the release of "The Finest Hours" -- a retelling of the true story of what’s still rated as the greatest small boat rescue in the history of the service.

Behind the the big-budget Hollywood production, a Connecticut artist had a small part in bringing that story to the screen.

After five terms in the state senate, Andrew Maynard announced he will not seek re-election. The Democrat from Stonington is recovering from two head injuries in the last two years and questions have been raised about his ability to serve.

U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal and Congressman Joe Courtney of Connecticut held a forum in New London to hear from state public health officials, addiction treatment centers and police chiefs from Southeastern Connecticut about the heroin and opioid abuse epidemic.
