Long before “climate change” came into public consciousness as a major environmental issue - we worried about “acid rain” - caused by emissions of carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides that react with water in the atmosphere to create acids. Gene Likens was at the forefront of the national acid rain debate in the 1980s...now he’s focusing on climate change.
