Democratic Governor Dannel Malloy, Republican challenger Tom Foley, and Independent candidate Joe Visconti met on Thursday for a gubernatorial debate at the Garde Arts Center in New London.
The event was moderated by WNPR's John Dankosky. The candidates answered questions from The Day's editorial page editor, Paul Choiniere, and WNPR's business desk reporter, Harriet Jones.
During the debate, questions about "corporate welfare," gun rights, climate change, and education policy arose. It was the first debate that included Visconti.

The latest Quinnipiac University poll showed Malloy and Foley in a 43 to 43 percent dead heat. Independent Joe Vicsonti garnered nine percent support by Connecticut’s likely voters.
Nearly 75 percent of those who named a candidate in the poll said at the time that their minds were made up. One quarter said they could still change their minds.
