Wallingford Officials Approve Changes to Oakdale Permit

Planning and zoning officials in Connecticut have approved changes made to the Toyota Oakdale Theatre's town permit that could make it easier for the venue to abide by noise rules.

Noise complaints spiked last year, which prompted Wallingford to issue the Oakdale a cease-and-desist order.

The Wallingford commission unanimously voted Monday to allow dome shows, but events cannot happen in the dome and the main theater at the same time.

A provision in the permit that banned outside noise during shows was removed. Instead, the theater must adhere to a 100-decibel limit on shows anywhere within the building.

The commission also set an 11:30 p.m. curfew for shows from Sunday to Thursday, and no later than midnight on Friday and Saturday.

The Town Planner says the new modifications will lift the cease-and-desist order, which has been pending against the theatre since December.
