A Connecticut state lawmaker has been arrested on a charge of driving under the influence after a crash on Interstate 84.
State police said State Rep. VictorCuevas, D-Waterbury, was headed east on I-84 late Wednesday night and hit a car in front of him as the driver slowed for traffic in Waterbury. No injuries were reported.
Police said Cuevas failed a roadside sobriety test and refused to take a breath test.
Cuevas does not have a listed phone number and it was not known Thursday night if he's represented by a lawyer. He was released on $500 bond.
House Speaker Brendan Sharkey, D-Hamden, said that although all the details are unclear, he removed Cuevas as vice-chairman of the legislature's Labor and Public Employees Committee.
