Robots Are Coming For Our Sportswriters

http://cptv.vo.llnwd.net/o2/ypmwebcontent/Commodore%20Skahill/Colin%20McEnroe%20Show%2001-26-2011%20Rushin.mp3

Steve Rushin is fearful of robots. First they replaced his father's pin-setting job. Now they're coming for him.

Rushin is the author of The Pint Man and a long time columnist and contributor to Sports Illustrated. He recently wrote about the rise of sportswriting software and the implications this site could have for sports stories across the country.

Will the robots continue to load sports stories with pre-fabricated cliches like "charity stripe"? Or will they overcome, adapt, and ultimately DESTROY the human contingent of sports reporters. Time will tell.

Colin McEnroe is a radio host, newspaper columnist, magazine writer, author, playwright, lecturer, moderator, college instructor and occasional singer. Colin can be reached at colin@ctpublic.org.
