Performing Art In The Pandemic

The pandemic took its toll on Connecticut’s creative sector, especially performing artists. Safe social distancing meant closed theaters and music venues, and an end to live performances. But many artists decided to take their talents online, in the virtual world.

Often, a performer would simply grab a guitar, turn on their computer and live stream. Others found ways to collaborate from home, using apps like Acapella to create some intricate virtual performances.

Connecticut Public Radio’s Ray Hardman has this audio postcard of just some of the memorable performances that have happened during the pandemic in Connecticut.

This is an excerpt from First Wave: Coronavirus in Connecticut, a two-hour special looking at Connecticut's response to the first three months of COVID-19 in the state. Listen to the full show here.
