A woman has died after she was struck by an Amtrak train near the Fairfield station in Connecticut.
Amtrak officials tell WFSB-TV the train was heading from Norfolk, Virginia, to Boston on Sunday evening when it struck the woman who was on the tracks.
Police told The Advocate in Stamford that the woman was trying to cross the tracks. Pedestrians are supposed to use an overhead walkway to travel from one side to another.
Authorities did not release the woman's name.
Hundreds of people were aboard the train at the time and the train stood on the tracks while the investigation was underway.
