Every year at this time, as you may have heard, there's a big-old basketball tournament that goes on. And every year at this time, people in offices and in firehouses and in Rotary Clubs and in Atlantic City enter bracket pools, where they try to win a big-old pile of ducats by predicting just exactly how said big-old basketball tournament will go.
And so every year at this time, for every year that this show has been on the air, we put together an hour where we try to help you win a big-old pile of ducats, where we try to help you fill out your big-old bracket.
And to do this, we invite an improv comic and an ex-politician-turned-political-pundit on to prognosticate. Logically.
And then the improv comic and the political pundit talk some pretty serious smack. Here's Julia Pistell in a preparatory email leading up to this show:
This is the year I finally crush Bill.
BOOM.
And here's Bill Curry's stinging rejoinder:
I suppose I should be grateful for [Julia's] polite implication that she hasn't in fact crushed me every year since we started this thing… Not that I'm bitter or anything. Who knows, maybe it's my year…
WOW. Pretty intense.
And the best part of all that? I'm pretty sure no one's ever actually kept track of whether either of them regularly crushes the other of them or not.
*It's the seventh time we've done this show unless we missed one or two along the way. But we don't think we missed one or two along the way, so we're going with seventh.
