Governor Malloy Wants Answers Into Funds Owed from Teachers' Retirement Board
Governor Malloy is calling on the state of Connecticut’s Teachers’ Retirement Board to explain why some beneficiaries have not received funds they were owed. Malloy said he wants a comprehensive report on the matter by the end of the month.
Secretary of the State Qualifies for Public Campaign Financing
Secretary of the State Denise Merrill, who announced her re-election bid in December, has become the first statewide candidate to qualify for public financing in 2014. the State Elections Enforcement Commission approved grants for Merrill and seven legislative candidates this week. Merrill raised $75,000 in small qualifying contributions and will receive a general election grant of nearly $813,000.
Home Sales Slowed Down in April
Connecticut home sales in April slowed for the first time in more than a year--a sign that the upward momentum in the past two years could be slowing. According to a report from the Warren Group, which tracks housing trends in New England, April sales of single-family homes statewide fell 8 percent.
UConn Basketball Teams Visiting the White House on Monday
President Barack Obama is inviting the UConn men’s and women’s champion basketball teams to the White House on Monday. In March, President Obama predicted a repeat championship for Connecticut in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament.
