The sub base in New London is hosting a meeting between the Navy and energy industry to exchange information about renewable energy, a mini-electric grid, and industry research.
The gathering on Wednesday is hosted by Naval Facilities Engineering Command, which builds and maintains facilities, and provides services and Navy expeditionary combat force capabilities.
Brian Lindoerfer, the public works officer for Naval Submarine Base New London, said the Navy plans to share ideas and objectives to develop a microgrid on the base and help develop renewable or alternative energy sources.
The Naval Facilities Engineering Command is looking for utility providers, renewable and alternative energy companies, and others that offer advanced technologies for electrical power generation and distribution to sign up for the meeting.
