New Chapter for Faith Middleton on WNPR

On this final edition of my daily show, now in its 36th year on WNPR, I start a new chapter as full-time host and executive producer of the expanded Faith Middleton Food Schmooze® Party. Who doesn't need a little more party?

When this show turned 35 last January, it was such a significant number. Is it time for change, I asked myself? I knew the answer was yes, but when I walked along a country lane with my partner, what bubbled up in me wasn't what I thought… like, go sit on a beach and read to your heart's content. See art. Go to the movies more. What I realized with crystal clarity—and no small amount of joy—was I want to devote myself to the Food Schmooze® Party and the team I do it with.

As nice as the beach sounded, and despite that you listeners and I have experienced so much—I have been so enlarged by all of you and this daily experience—I can't resist the temptation, the seduction, the energy I have for the Food Schmooze®, a show I founded on a whim more than 15 years ago, a show that has become the fastest growing entity here at WNPR. Except I was afraid Jerry might possibly kill me.

The CEO and president of Connecticut Public Broadcasting, Jerry Franklin, listened to my idea of a new chapter in his Hartford office. He looked at me and said, "If that's where your great passion is, go for it, give it your all!" And that's exactly what I intend to do. The upshot is, I'm not going anywhere!

My daily show, this one, will be replaced by the NPR show Here and Now at this hour Monday through Wednesday. I'll host the new expanded Faith Middleton Food Schmooze® every Thursday at this hour, 3:00 pm, and as always, Saturdays at noon. A new on-demand podcast is coming soon, along with Daily Food Schmooze® Snacks on air, and lots more.

The launch of the new Faith Middleton Food Schmooze® Party is a week from today at 3:00 pm. I hope you'll join me. To have our community with me is more important to me than I can convey. I simply adore you.
