Here's my nomination for a neologism: "Amazonopoeia." Definition: the rhetorical use of Amazon shopping and customer reviews.
There have been two very different examples this week: people who thought Paula Deen had been overpunished started buying her books and pushing them up the sale rankings.
Sample comment:
"I don't normally buy items for a political statement but this time I have. Paula has freedom of speech and I have the power of the buck. Today I bought this book AND a box of cheerios (in support of their ad that contains a mixed race marriage)."
Meanwhile, customer reviews for the Mizuno running shoes worn by Wendy Davis touted their abilities to get you through a filibuster and outrun patriarchy.
Today on the Nose, "Wendymania" and the new movie version of "Much Ado About Nothing."
