Live (on Tape) From the Peabody!

In the more than six years that it's been on the air, we've never taken The Colin McEnroe Show to the Peabody Museum before. (Crazy, right?) And: In the more than six years that it's been on the air, we've never done a Colin McEnroe Show about dinosaurs before. (Crazy! Right!?)

So last Tuesday we rectified both of those things at once. We went down to New Haven and taped a show right there in the Great Hall of Dinosaurs in front of a pretty sizable live audience (as well as a very sizable, long-dead audience).

This hour, we talk to three different paleontologists about all the newest news in the world of dinosaurs: the "dino-chicken" (it's a thing!), the Brontosaurus (it's a thing again!), the Nanotryrannus (it may or may not be a thing!), and more. And we talk to Richard Conniff, whose new book, House of Lost Worlds, covers the 150-year (150 years!) history of this New Haven gem, the Peabody.

GUESTS:

  • Richard Conniff - Author of House of Lost Worlds: Dinosaurs, Dynasties, and the Story of Life on Earth
  • Daniel Field - Evolutionary paleobiologist
  • Jacques Gauthier - Curator of Vertebrate Paleontology at the Peabody
  • Richard Kissel - Paleontologist, and Director of Public Programs at the Peabody; he oversaw planning and installation of the museum’s current exhibit, Treasures of the Peabody: 150 Years of Exploration and Discovery
