LISTEN: The Hartford 'Not Out Of The Woods' After Rejecting Takeover Offer

Connecticut Public

The Hartford has rejected Chubb's $23 billion acquisition bid. Insurance industry expert Frederick McKinney of Quinnipiac University spoke to Connecticut Public Radio's All Things Considered about why he thinks the company made this decision, and whether the saga is really over.

Editors note: In an earlier version of this story, we incorrectly characterized The Hartford CEO Chris Swift’s remarks as a specific comment on the decision not to accept Chubb’s offer. In actuality, Mr. Swift made those remarks on Feb. 25, 2021, during the Credit Suisse 22nd Annual Financial Services Forum. We regret the error and have corrected it.

John Henry Smith is Connecticut Public’s host of All Things Considered, its flagship afternoon news program. He's proud to be a part of the team that won a regional Emmy Award for The Vote: A Connecticut Conversation. In his 21st year as a professional broadcaster, he’s covered both news and sports.
