Hartford Police Officer Charged For Punching Woman In Custody

A Hartford police officer has been charged with assault after punching a woman who was being held in custody.

According to an internal report, the victim, Felicia Jenkins, was verbally aggressive with officers when she was being booked on domestic violence charges last month. She attempted to strike an officer and was then restrained by two others.

Jenkins spit in the direction of James Guzie. He punched Jenkins in the head and claimed he was about to be attacked by her. The investigation found that his claim was unreasonable because of his distance from Jenkins and the fact that she was already being restrained by other officers.

Guzie was charged with third-degree assault.
