Hartford's development director has resigned amid an investigation into allegations the city was overbilled on a project to redevelop a soccer stadium.
The Hartford Courant reported that Thomas Deller resigned effective October 31. Deller could not be reached for comment.
Mayor Pedro Segarra said in a statement that he was grateful for Deller's service, but that given recent events, the mayor believes Deller made the right decision for him and the city.
Deller's department approved payments of more than $1.8 million to Premier Sports Management Group, which was working to redevelop Dillon Stadium for professional soccer. Police are investigating allegations the city was overbilled.
Deller previously said he did not know how much they were overbilled, but it was a large number. Deller has been on the job since 2012.
