DeLauro, Murphy Announce Investigations Into Capitol Police Response

New Haven-area Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro today announced that part of the House Appropriations Committee will review the law enforcement response to what she called a coup attempt at the capitol yesterday. In a statement, DeLauro says there was a severe failure in securing the building. DeLauro is the chair of the Appropriations Committee. A subcommittee oversees funding for the capitol police.

Trump supporters went from a rally near the White House to the Capitol building that houses the senate and the U-S House, where they fought with police and forced their way inside the building.

Meanwhile, Connecticut Senator Chris Murphy says he will be at the forefront of an investigation into how the capitol's security was breached so quickly. Murphy is the ranking member of a Senate panel that funds the Capitol Police. He
