Day Kimball and Hartford HealthCare will consider a "formal integration."

Day Kimball Healthcare and Hartford HealthCare have announced they are considering an arrangement for the Putnam health system to become a member of the Hartford HealthCare network.

The systems said Thursday that Hartford HealthCare will initially provide management support for operations determined by Day Kimball to help it reduce costs.

Hartford HealthCare includes the Hospital of Central Connecticut, MidState Medical Center, Backus Hospital, and Windham Hospital.

L+M Healthcare and Yale New Haven Health System announced Wednesday an agreement to affiliate.

Day Kimball and Hartford HealthCare will consider a "formal integration" as they participate in initiatives to improve operations, the systems said.

The affiliation review will solicit the views of employees, medical staff, the community, and others.

The state budget enacted in June raised taxes on hospital revenue and reduced Medicaid reimbursements.
