Connecticut Loosens Pandemic Restrictions On Events

Event planners now have guidance when it comes to springtime celebrations. Gov. Ned Lamont announced Tuesday that starting March 19, indoor capacity at venues can increase to 50%, up to 100 people. Outdoors the number is 200.

"Event planners tell us you need time to plan, so that's why we are giving you a month to plan this," Lamont said at his regular coronavirus briefing. "I know you want some guarantees -- we can have a big wedding in July. I can't give you guarantees, but right now the trends are good and that's why we're giving you this reopening for events starting on March 19."

State officials say concert venues like the XL Center will also be able to reopen for events at half capacity.
