Commutations On Hold In Connecticut Prison System

The state Board of Pardons and Paroles has not commuted any inmates' sentences since last year. The Connecticut Mirror reports that the board is currently not accepting applications for commutations to shorten prison sentences. The board's executive director says the body is currently revising its policies. Richard Sparaco says the law describing the board's commutation authority is vague. He says officials are considering what the purpose of commutations should be.
