AAA Says Gas Prices Are Up 13 Cents in Connecticut

Connecticut motorists are paying about 13 cents a gallon more for gasoline this week than last, according to the weekly survey by AAA.

The automobile club on Tuesday put the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline at $2.60, up from $2.47 last week. That is well above the national average of $2.46, which is up seven cents from a week ago.

AAA said the price rise is linked to higher crude oil prices and the annual switch from a winter to summer blend of gasoline.

The group found the highest prices in the state in greater Bridgeport and Stamford, where a gallon was going for about $2.69. Gas was cheapest in the greater Hartford and New Haven-Meriden markets, at $2.58.
