Governor Dannel Malloy has vetoed three pieces of education legislation, including a bill to increase the number of student seats on the University of Connecticut's Board of Trustees.
In his veto message, Malloy said the existing two student seats, and two alumni seats are already above average for public universities.
The measure had passed the state senate unanimously, and received only one "no" vote in the House.
Malloy also vetoed legislation that would haveremoved the Office of Higher Education's oversight in approving changes to academic programs at non-profit institutions.
There was a third veto on a bill regarding unsubstantiated allegations of abuse and neglect by school employees. The legislation would have required that records related to these unsubstantiated claims be removed. But Malloy said the requirement is "overly broad.”
