General Electric is going to make us wait a little longer. The conglomerate had promised a decision on its potential headquarters move by the end of this year, but recently said it won’t announce until January.
Remaining in Connecticut is reportedly still an option, as GE comes down to a shortlist of places for its flagship operation. The company has been considering the future of its Fairfield headquarters since June, when it strongly objected to tax measures in the biennial budget passed by the legislature.
Change of Ownership for Westfield Mall
The Westfield Corporation has announced it will sell the Westfield Mall in Milford. The sale is part of a $1.1 billion deal to divest five malls around the country.
The properties will be bought by a consortium of three companies, and managed by one of them, Dallas-based Centennial Real Estate. Centennial said it intends to take advantage of what it calls unrealized opportunities at each of the malls, and the goal is to create a community hub that provides more than just shopping.
Tax Refunds Go Begging
You may have a hard time believing this, but some people forget about their tax refund. The state Department of Revenue Services is sending letters to more than 25,000 business and individuals with forgotten state tax refunds.
The total amount lying unclaimed exceeds $6.5 million. DRS said those people have until March 1 to pick up their cash, before its added to the Treasurer’s Unclaimed Property Division.
